Problem:
The presence of ferrous contamination in detergent slurries being unloaded from tank cars was a persistant problem for B.T. Babbitt, Inc., of Albany, NY, USA.
Solution:
An Eriez
Ferrous Trap was installed in the incoming line from the tank cars. When the alkyl-aryl-sulfonate slurry was pumped through the trap, the magnetic elements caught the iron, while the trap bowl captured stones and other nonmagnetic trash.
